Every symbol you combine is the result of an exact chain of Bolts.
To unlock the ultimate reward of the thirteenth stage on Merge Island, you need to understand the principle of doubling. Since every new symbol is created from two identical symbols of the previous stage, the energy requirement does not grow linearly, but exponentially.
It all starts with your first Bolt. This generates a base symbol of Level 1. To reach the next level, this investment doubles every single time. While Level 2 only costs a modest 2 Bolts, you will notice by Level 5 that the journey becomes much more demanding.
